Update: SNAP Benefits at Risk – Urgent Action Needed
What’s Happening
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has both the authority and the resources to ensure November SNAP benefits go out on time. However, the Department has not yet acted, putting 42 million Americans — including 1 million people in Massachusetts — at risk of delayed benefits.
Let’s be clear:
➡️ The State and the Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) are not to blame.
➡️ The responsibility lies with USDA and Secretary Rollins, who can direct contingency and carryover funds to prevent delays.
Hunger is a policy choice. Secretary Rollins and the Administration can — and must — act to prevent it.
Allowing hunger to deepen during a shutdown is not an inevitability; it is a policy choice..
